Delicious Korea

One thing which impressed me the most is food in Korea. We were lucky because our host, the Korea National Tourism Organisation, had planned a wonderful itinerary for us which included sampling of the best food in Korea.

We had nice traditional Korean fish steamboat at the Institute of Korean Traditional Cuisine, BBQ pork, Ginseng Chicken and Seafood Steamboat. You must try all of these…its fingers licking good!

Chill ‘n’ Chat at Chef Loong Restaurant

Guess who is my special guest in this segment?

Yes, it is DAP’s rising star and economic adviser to its Secretary-General. But to me, Tony is a friend first. I met him when he was still a CEO of his company, Cyber Village Sdn Bhd. It never crossed my mind that Tony the CEO will one day take a plunge into politics.

We were looking for a restaurant to do a food review and stumbled upon a restaurant in SS2, the Chef Loong Restaurant. It offers a wide range of mouth watering desert and ‘tong sui’.

Want to know more about Tony and our food review? Take a look at this video.

Next week, there is another personality (a ruling government MP) on the show. Watch this space! We will introduce you to another highly regarded restaurant.

Nyonya Cafe at New World, Penang

My good friend, Neil Khor, recommended I visit a nyonya restaurant at New World. So, I invited another friend, Jessie Loh, an IT entrepreneur to tag along as my special guest for the food review.

The restaurant is hidden by some trees but it looked cosy and well decorated. We were greeted by a friendly outlet manager, Kristine. She sat us down and Kenneth Yip, the owner of the cafe helped us with the menu.

Kenneth helped us to order several dishes and its signature ‘asam/lemak’ laksa as well. Watch the video if you wanted to know how some of these dishes are prepared and about our review.

Kenneth’s parting words, “Penang should promote its unique baba nyonya culture and food”. I nodded with agreement.

Purple Cane Tea Restaurant at The Gardens

Asthy and I took a stroll around The Gardens at Midvalley City and decided to head for lunch. We haven’t checked out the lower ground floor. So we decided to check it out since she told me about a newly opened Taiwanese restaurant.

We did not go to the Taiwanese restaurant but instead found a nice and cosy restaurant next to it, the Purple Cane Tea Restaurant. The environment is calm and relaxing. It is a suitable place for family, vegetarians and tea lovers like myself.

Watch the video to find out about our review! Let me know too if you think there is a nice restaurant or eatery I should visit.

Oriental Cravings at One Utama

We arrived at One Utama New Wing quite early, around 11am. I was there with a friend, Asthy Tan, who is also a food lover. We decided to record an impromptu video to share with you our review of this restaurant.

We ordered Chicken Rendang and Bak Kut Teh. Yes, this is a non-halal restaurant (Muslims would understand what halal means).  Find out what both of us think of the orders.

The meal came up to RM37.00 (approx. USD11.00)
