Last Sunday, my friend Chung and his family introduced me to a newly opened restaurant at Jalan Rangoon, next to Lorong Selamat, Penang.
We could see that the restaurant is packed with patrons when we arrived at 12.30pm. It looked like any of your regular ‘tai chow’ or seafood restaurant ala coffee shop style. But it is clean and the food is something else.
We ordered tom yam bee hoon (clear soup). It was served with slices of fish and the soup is just easy over the throat – not too spicy and you could just continue enjoying tablespoons of its soup.
The ‘sui kow’ (meat dumpling) is average, this I must agree with our bright gentleman (Chung’s son). But the porkribs and prompret koay teow (thick rice noodle) are both prepared deliciously. Good food does come in simple preparation.
I quite like the portion of vegetable we ordered too. If you and your family are looking for a nice sumptious lunch. I strongly recommend this restaurant.
